The enticing grape hue of this purple spinel will add elegance to any jewelry setting. The 6x4mm faceted oval stone originates from Sri Lanka and has a weight of .38 carat. Natural spinel is a beautiful gemstone that comes in a wide range of spectacular colors. Customer Review :

Very dark. Stone quality around medium.

On sale the price was comparable to other stones of this type.
I will only buy loose stones in person from now on though.
But it did look close to the picture.

5x4mm Oval Garnet (Color change) Loose Gemstone 5x4mm Oval Garnet (Color change) Loose Gemstone
Price : $69.61
Features :
  1. Country of origin: Tanzania
  2. Gemstones may have been treated to improve their appearance or durability and may require special care.

Editorial Review :

Garnet is one of the few gemstones that can exhibit a natural color change phenomenon, and the display is truly enchanting. This 5x4mm color-change garnet comes from Tanzania and has a weight of .38 carat. Beautifully faceted, it changes from a teal blue color when viewed in daylight to a deep raspberry red when viewed with incandescent light. The change is caused by a difference in the way various types of light affect the atomic structure of the stone. The ultraviolet rays in sunlight and fluorescent light excite the atoms, while the incandescent light does not. Garnet is a naturally beautiful and durable gemstone that works well in any jewelry setting.

Editorial Review :

This captivating yellow beryl gemstone has a weight of .82 carat and would look stunning in a ring or pendant setting. The 8x6mm pear-shaped stone is expertly faceted for a lovely sparkle and displays a rich golden yellow color. Beryl is a popular and durable gemstone that comes in a variety of gorgeous colors, some of which are better known by their own names: emerald, for instance, is the green variety of beryl, and aquamarine is the name for the pale blue shade. Golden yellow beryl is a unique and fashionable choice, with a vibrant color that will add a splash of sunshine to any setting. To maintain the beauty of this beryl gemstone, clean it gently using a mild soap and warm water or a commercial jewelry cleaning solution.

Question : Where can I have loose gemstones appraised/purchased in Vancouver, BC.?
I make jewelry and have several loose stone sets (ruby, topaz, aquamarine etc) that I either don't like or don't need. I would like to find somewhere reputable to assess and hopefully purchase them. Downtown Vancouver preferred.

Answer:
Since I am not firmiliar with your area, I would try to stick with an AGS (American Gem Society) store. AGS members, in general, follow a high code of ethics and try to keep up with the ever changing industry. Below are some AGS members in your area. Not all jewelers are out to take your stones, but it is good to find a jeweler you can trust. AGS members are a good place to start.RobertRegistered GemologistHenry Birks & SonsNancy Shopsowitz 997 Park Royal, South, #722Suite E10, South Mall WastW. Question : I would like to sell loose gemstones, does anyone have any suggestions of how to sell them or who would buy?
I live in Missouri and I didn't know if jewelers typically buy loose gemstones from individuals.

Answer:
Well, that is a difficult question. I would say, it all depends on the gemstones that you have. Many local jewelers are not always familiar with the world of colored gemstones. Diamonds are their mainstream of profit. The thing is, a local jeweler is looking to make a profit from whatever someone would like to sell them. It does not matter how much the particular gemstone in question is worth, but what they can turn around and sell it for. Keep that in mind. A better bet is to post your knowledge of your pieces in a private ad, along with references and try to sell that way. Craigslist is a good option...Hope that helps....

I have some loose gemstones, such as an imperial topaz, several tanzanite stones, an imperfect diamond and others that I would like to sell while visiting NYC in April. I also have several jewelry items.

Answer:
do to the diamond district in mid town..its about 46th street and fifth. you'll find dealers there that only deal with one type of gem stones or just a few of the same types. just walk around and ask in different stores and remmber they love to haggle.

Question : Where can I find quality loose gemstones to buy online?
The only sites that I know of are Gem Select, JTV and AJS Gems. I would like to find sites with large inventories & rare stones. Thanks in advance for your help!

Answer:
Check herehttp://www.theonlinejewelrystores.com

Question : does anyone know where i can sell my loose gemstones? i have a large collection of tanzanite and want to sell.
i have a large collection of tanzanite and want to sell. the only place i know of is a pawn shop, but i would prefer someone more reputable. please help. thank you!

Answer:
Check out E-bay. Before you even think of selling, search for gemstones (as if you were going to buy them) and get an idea of what other people are charging, then post yours for sale (using other seller's prices as a guideline for your own, whether you go higher or lower is entirely up to you,) and see if any of them move.Good luck!(You could also look into other auction sites, like overstock.com and if you take the time, you may even find an on line auction site that specializes in jewelry which would greatly improve your chances at a sale.)Again, good luck!

Question : Does Cash for Gold take loose gemstones?
I know it's a scam. I don't care hahah. No one buys loose gemstones around here and I'm not doing that Ebay bullshit. So yea, does anyone know for sure if Cash for Gold takes loose gems? A simple "yes they do" or "no they don't" is sufficient

Answer:
They will take them. They just won't give you anything for them. They don't even pay for diamonds that are mounted in jewelry.

Question : Where can I find a place in Arizona buying loose gemstones?
I have a lot of loose gemstones that i found when I moved into this house and I need to find a place to sell them now.The Pawn Shop and a lot of other jewelery places don't take loose stones so if you could tell me of a place you might know that does, that would be amazingI have about 12 little stones, dunno what they are but I know they're real cuz the dude at the Pawn Shop told me haha but he couldn't buy it.Thanks :)

Answer:
There are a couple of big gemshows in Arizona usually held in the beginning of the year (so sorry looks like you may have to wait until early 2010).There is a link below for one in Tucson. There is also one in the appropriately named Quartzite, Arizona (near Blythe) that is pretty large. See the 2nd link. Most likely I am guessing you live in or near Phoenix so you are in for a drive either way, but Arizona has got great landscapes so it might be a fun road trip.

Question : Does anyone know where I can have appraised and sell loose gemstones?
I have a bunch of loose rubies, emeralds, and saphirres and other stones that I am not using anymore. Does anyone know where I can appraise and sell them? Also, I live near Houma, if that helps any. Please, I already know about ebay, so no ebay responses. What I need in particular is a place that can appraise loose gemstones, preferably someone certified with GIA, and then somewhere locally that I can sell them. Thanks

Answer:
try looking up the american society of appraisers to locate one near you. There is also louisiana coins and gems that do appraisals.
